The Mavalli story
Mavalli Biryani carries the line "Taste of 1952". It is a Karnataka wood-fire restaurant name, built on one idea: biryani cooked slowly over a real fire. This is our Jayanagar outlet, a franchise outlet of Mavalli Biryani, cooking that same style for Bengaluru's south side.
Cooked on wood fire
Every handi is cooked in hammered copper over wood fire, not gas. The fire is slower and gentler. The rice and meat cook together, and the smoke stays in the pot.
Our own masala
The spice blend is the outlet recipe, mixed for biryani. We use jeera samba rice, the small fragrant grain Karnataka biryani is known for, and mutton on the bone.
Karnataka style, with green masala curry
Karnataka-style biryani is not the same as other regional styles. Alongside it we serve green masala curry, the gravy that goes best with it.
